Synopsis
BEFORE THE WORLD KNEW HIS NAME, HE HAD TO FIND HIMSELF.
Ever since he was a child, Noël has been on stage. Being homeschooled, the audition rooms and wings of the theatres are where he has always found his friends, his mentors and his purpose in life. Though the need for money at home, and his deep love and concern for his mother, means he needs to become a star and he needs to do it quickly.
When a chance encounter with an artist, Philip, opens up his world, Noël starts to see how the other side live. Philip’s circle of eccentrics and aristocrats show him a way of life so far removed from his mother's home of ‘genteel poverty’ it energises him and inspires him. This life of art and stimulating conversation is what could await him if he plays his cards right.
His obvious genius is notable to all he meets, and he is quickly accepted and adored in Philips world, but that world is turned upside down as war breaks out across Europe.
Noël is starting to understand himself in new ways, and the intense emotions of youth are distracting him...until a profound heartbreak sends him on his path to greatness.
This is the story of how Noël Coward finds himself: his first loves, his first heartbreaks, his first failures and his first groundbreaking success.
