Synopsis
AN UNLIKELY GROUP FINDING THEIR WAY FORWARD.
After the death of his wife Jeannie, Phil takes on the unlikely task of keeping her beloved ukulele group together. A wry-witted Northerner in his sixties, he wasn’t a member and can barely play. But in a Warrington night class, he finds himself leading a handful of misfits whose weekly rehearsals offer an escape from lives that haven’t quite turned out as planned.
When the teenage girl who vandalised Jeannie’s memorial is forced to join them, she seems the last person likely to help. Yet her arrival gives the group an unexpected new purpose. As they work towards a shared dream, unlikely friendships form, old frustrations surface, and Phil begins to find a way through his grief.
A warm, funny and moving story about loss, belonging and second chances, The Warrington Ukulele Society follows an unlikely band of outsiders discovering that there is still time to make a little noise.
